I walked out the front door, pointed straight up, and shot this:

I'm quite pleased. :)

More test images after the cut, nothing artistic, but I'm pleased with the sharpness and color.

Here's the thing... I've attempted this shot several times over the years. The last version involved a tripod, cable release, mirror lockup, and several shots, just to get something I regard as inferior.

This was a "Johnny Duh" shot. Walked out the door with existing settings and pressed the button.

Wow! This is amazing! This is what was taken with the complete lens package, the one sitting on the table in your previous post? I'll say it again - Dayuuum! Very nice, and obviously, well worth the price you probably paid.

Yes. To an extent I guess I got lucky that my camera settings were appropriate, but hey, whatever it takes. :)

Agreed. I am tempted to save up for a teleconverter. :)

I suspect you'd need a BIG 'scope to do that. As in, one that requires it's own building.

Awesome! Is that with the penis lens you posted about the other day? I wasn't sure if you had purchased it or just seen it online.

The penis lens post was a pic I took with my cell phone of what had just arrived in the mail. :)

I've been wanting a telephoto with decent reach ever since my days with the Canon 20d and Sigma 70-300mm... with the crop factor of the 20d, that was equivalent to about 480m. But to have that with very good image stabilization and a full frame sensor is a whole new ballgame.

Of course, the trade offs are the weight/size, and the cost of filters. Dang thing uses 86mm filters!
