Miss Subtlety
May. 8th, 2005 07:59 amStorm wakes up around 7 this morning and comes into our bedroom. She climbs into Melanie's side of the bed and starts rubbing Mel's back. Mel gives a sleepy sound of approval. I look at Storm, and she has that bursting at the seams look that kids get when they know a secret.
She hugs Melanie... "Happy Mother's Day, Mom."
"Oh, thank you Sweetie," says Melainie, smiling and snuggling further into the pillow.
Storm waits about a minute, fidgeting. Mom is clearly missing her cue to beg for information. Storm adds "You will be surprised when you get up, because we got you something."
Mel goes "mmmmhmm" sleepily. I can see where this is going, but there is no tactful way to stop it.
"I can't wait for you to get up Mom, because you will like your present. I'm excited because I love planting things, and I love helping you plant flowers."
Well, there it is.
I raise up on one elbow. "Storm, you just told what we got for Mommy."
She furrows her brow, thinking. "No I didn't."
*sigh*
Happy Mother's Day, moms.
