I have gotten really bad about naming, organizing, and backing up my photos. Bad, bad, bad. So today I rolled up my sleeves and dived in, gave directories meaningful names (all the way back to April), finished exporting a bunch of stuff, and got everything proper and ready for backups. Syncback is running now.

In addition to all the photos I had been neglecting, I also found some I had actually misplaced. So, lots of photos upcoming. I'll start with a couple shots of carnivorous plants I took at the blue plum festival.

“The artist is the confidant of nature, flowers carry on dialogues with him through the graceful bending of their stems and the harmoniously tinted nuances of their blossoms. Every flower has a cordial word which nature directs towards him.”
- Auguste Rodin

This moth flew past my ear and I thought I was about to be attacked by a foot long bumble bee. This is a hummingbird moth... it flies very much like a hummingbird, darting here and there, hovering, flying fast in straight lines. Not at all like the usual "I'm about to crash" look many moths have when they fly. I was quite pleased to be able to snap of photo of this guy in flight. *Almost* froze the wings, but not quite. ISO 1000, F7.1 @ 1/1000 sec. I considered opening up the aperture but felt I needed the focal leeway more, he was darting all over the place.
