So I can't say if Britney bombed at the MTV Music Awards or not.

But I have to take issue with the Associated Press' report that names some of the things wrong with her performance:
Out-of-synch lip-synching. Lethargic movements that seemed choreographed by a dance instructor for a nursing home. The paunch in place of Spears' once-taut belly.

Picture of said "paunch":

Dear people of the world... please send all women with a paunch like Britney's to see Vaughn Teegarden, of Vaughns Photo Art, for appropriate appreciation and photography. Thank you.

This world is nuts.

I like her body. However, her performance sucked major ass, and I think the fact that her outfit was so skimpy and she had high heels on didn't help her at all.

sometimes it's difficult to believe how brainwashed this society is. I can't even begin to tell you how many comments I've heard/read about her looking "fat" at the VMAs. I didn't see it on TV but rather on youtube in order to spare myself the rest of shit that is MTV.
She sure doesn't look like this anymore:

but still, she looked good last night

I think the problem with the choreography is simply that SHE isn't comfortable in her body anymore. I recognize that style of moving -- that's "I don't feel like I'm wearing enough, I don't feel like I look good, I'm very tense, so I'm going to move very carefully so that I don't look even more ridiculous than I feel." Poor girl.

I was just reading that article before I came over to LJ. Crazy shit.

This society is completely nutters. How can she be expected to have the abs of a 16 year old when she's had a couple of kids? Why does this world think that fully grown women are "Fat?" If you aren't a wispy 14-16 year old, your day is gone. Now granted, her spray on tan and the obvious HUGE amount of product she has glooped on makes me gag, and her music has always been something to suffer through. After all this I'd be surprised if she didn't blow her brains out. I probably would, if I woke up one day and realized I was that superficial.
/end rant

So insane.

I see a lot of that sort of sentiment, working in the Adult world. A girl at 24 is pretty much over the hill. It's ridiculous. And if they're curvy or have "paunch" like Britney up there (puhlease), the criticism is unrelenting.

Absurd.

No, I mean she looks healthy. She looks like someone who actually eats rather than starves herself.

From the NY Post (as only they could write, especially the second to last paragraph):

BRITNEY A BUST
LARD & CLEAR LOSER AT VMAS
By DAN AQUILANTE, Post Music Critic

September 10, 2007 -- What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? So why was Britney Spears' totally lame, pathetically lip-synched Video Music Awards performance at the Palms Casino last night allowed to be seen by the rest of the world?

At the annual MTV ceremony, Spears mounted her big comeback doing "Gimme More" from her upcoming album, but the song about lusting for too much wasn't enough to launch a dinghy, let along relaunch the career of this ditzy disaster.

Spears was stuffed into a spangled bra and hot pants and jiggled like Jell-O as she sleepwalked through the song.

She didn't seem to care that she danced like she had a pantload, that her lips weren't synched with the song, and that the tune isn't all that great.

At the start, Britney vamped, "If you're looking for trouble you've come to the right place." She's never been more right in her life.

She merely looks human, fit, adult and female as opposed to the anorexic alien-child she used to resemble... ;-p
