The weekend post.
Sep. 29th, 2003 11:41 amHad a good weekend. Went over to my parents house Saturday for dinner and cake. Mel made the super-chocolate cake I love so much, which was awesome. Mom made a delicious lasgne with garlic bread. It was quite wonderful. I hung out, took pictures, and brought another load of stuff back from Dad's garage. I am probably to blame for the cold-snap we are having, as I picked up my kayak. :-\
Sunday was mostly spent on chores and taking the kids to the store with me, but in the evening my parents kindly watched the kids so we could go out for our anniversary. Nothing too fancy, we went out to dinner and took in a movie (where we ran into
shirokarasu), but it was nice to get out by ourselves. I couldn't help staring at Mel at the restaurant... the setting sun was coming through the windows behind her, highlighting her hair as is flowed over her shoulders. She looked amazingly beautiful.
Had several aborted project attempts Saturday... was going to put in some steel screw jack columns in the basement, and take out the wood columns, but the dirt was too soft and I just kept burying the bottom of the screw jack. So, needed cement, and my wheelbarrow, both unavailable at the time. Similarly, couldn't dig out the front flowerbox, no wheelbarrow. Did puttering cleaning and dishes and stuff instead. I did however get the mower working (hadn't been run in TWO YEARS, mind you!) and mowed the lawn, which was seriously overdue. Then had to rake the lawn... I need a baler. Also put up towel bars and whatnot in the bathroom.
A pic of the front of my house...

Some pics of the trees around my house...
