I am getting to where I cringe when I have to open a PDF. First it grinds and grinds starting up, and then a dialog pops up... you have to install updates!  If I install... it's back next time with more updates. How many updates are really necessary for a simple product like this?   If I don't install, I have to cancel a box, then another box, then it pops up again, and I have to cancel it again, and another box again. What cancerous bunch of bloatware crap this has become. Not that it hasn't been for a while, but this is aggregious.

Anyone have an adobe reader alternative they use and like?

The best part is that my browser stopped crashing.

On the Mac, Preview does an okay job. Mostly because it's vastly faster than Adobe.

After several people recommended it, I've tried it over the last several days. It really does open quickly, a nice change. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. :)

For opening PDF's? Never tried it that way. I use OO regularly though, I like it better than M$ Office.

I use PrimoPDF at home to generate PDF's from things outside Open Office. It's the same thing, free print driver, you select it as a printer. Pretty cool. Using Foxit now, it's great, thanks.

Yep, tried it and it's great. I have uninstalled Reader. A glorious day.

I THINK it opens PDFs. I'd have to check the site again

I don't think so. I only say that because I noticed a PDF opener plugin for it on their plugin list, so I assume it isn't natively included.
