I'd say a Commuter Car (http://www.commutercars.com/) would be safer than an SUV. Thing's built around a racing-certified roll cage. And gets infinitely better gas mileage :) Besides, would you really want a car whose wheel falls off the rim that easily? I mean, really.

I got the link by just searching for "Pacific Beach" June 14 car, which brought me the Harvard link at the top of the list. So the one-armed man aspect is in question, but I think it's safe to say that a guy *did* get drunk and go nutso with his SUV.

I'm pretty amazed that he walked away from the whole mess. But then, he couldn't have been going all that fast, what with being on his rim and still having enough control to hit all those other cars. The Commuter Car won't be able to do as much damage to other vehicles, but you can walk away from just about anything.
