It wasn't me, it was the one armed man.
Jun. 22nd, 2004 06:37 pmYou want to go look at this:
http://misterx.com/miscimg/onearmedman/
I originally got it from here:
http://www.eecs.harvard.edu/~andy/cars/cars.html
but he hadn't resized any of his pics and the whole page was close to 50 megs. I reduced the photos and mirrored it. Who loves ya baby?
If anyone can provide verification or a link to a news story about this, I'd love to know more. While trying to research it, I did find out that butterfly knives can be brought into the U.S. legally by one-armed persons, so in case you wondered...
Edit:
Found a few links. No confirmation of the "one-armed" aspect though. His name was Matt Lyman.

Could it be the same "Mad Matt Lyman" that signed this guesbook??

Could it be the same Matt Lyman that expressed his support for this departed professional wrestler?

Or maybe it's this Matt Lyman, trying to stir up some business:

I'll quit now. :)

I got the link by just searching for "Pacific Beach" June 14 car, which brought me the Harvard link at the top of the list. So the one-armed man aspect is in question, but I think it's safe to say that a guy *did* get drunk and go nutso with his SUV.
I'm pretty amazed that he walked away from the whole mess. But then, he couldn't have been going all that fast, what with being on his rim and still having enough control to hit all those other cars. The Commuter Car won't be able to do as much damage to other vehicles, but you can walk away from just about anything.
