He's the author of a lot of Graphic novels, as well as at least one "regular" novel - American Gods - which I thoroughly enjoyed!

He is the author of the Sandman stuff, if you've ever heard of that.

Anyway, I'm sure a google search would give you much info!

I met him at <a href"http://www.penguicon.org">Penguicon</a> this year. He's a gracious person, and very friendly. He won an award while he was at our con.
Haven't read a thing of his, but he's a nice guy.

Neil is a truly remarkable writer and creative force. I'm sure others have pointed some of these things out to you by now, or, at the very least, you've researched him a little further, but I'll still share some things about him.

As a novelist, he has won many top prestigious awards, including the Nebula, the Hugo, World Fantasy Award, and the Bram Stoker. His works run from Humourous (Good Omens) and Urban Mythology (American Gods), to Pure Fantasy (Stardust) and Downright Creepy (the wonderful children's book Coraline).

As a comic-book writer he has risen to the top of the ranks and become one of the best-liked creators on the scene. His 75-issue series Sandman is his masterpiece. His tireless work on the board of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF (http://www.cbldf.org/)) is to be commended!

As a person he is incredibly down-to-earth, friendly in all the right sorts of ways, and very gracious towards his fans. In the world of comics and fantasy he is the Rock Star, complete with his trademark leather jacket and sunglasses..

And speaking of rock stars, he has been referred to in more than one Tori Amos song, as they happen to be very close friends.

Curious? Start with something easy: Coraline. It's creepy and spooky and can really get under your skin, but as it is a children's novel you can safely share it with the girls. They'll love it, but you'll be the one having the nightmares.
