You forget to send your kid back to school in the fall.

I totally forgot. Storm missed the first two days.

In my defense... this is ridiculously early to be going back. As in, it's summer, not fall. Camp isn't over yet. It wasn't even on my radar.

Bad daddy. :(

Public school, yes. They have a funny schedule though. More two-week breaks, less big vacas. The school year gets stretched out. I forget what they call it.

Wow. That is early. We are only 3 weeks into Summer vacation up here. When did her Summer break begin?

heh...ooops.

well, if it makes you feel any better, my parents left me at sea world when i was 7, and were in the car in the parking lot before they realized i was still in the park.

and hey, what kid doesn't want an extra couple days at home?

better than that, she had a sleep over with her mom-mom and got to go swimming. she didn't exactly mind.

wow, they left you at sea world? damn!

If they do it again, I'm applying to be your foster parent.

No offense but at the moment, I don't think your application would be accepted--your other kid missing school and all that! ;)

parental unit snark:

"I thought it was starting soon, but I didn't check the calendar because I figured *you guys* are the parents and surely you'd know when she was going back to school..."

(I didn't say anything, and I tried to assume she didn't mean it as snarkily as it sounded.)

my mom isn't snarky, so I doubt she meant it that way.

Oh, please. I'm sure she's not a snarky PERSON, but what mother, no matter how lovely a person, could resist a little snark at a time like this?

knowing my mom, she could have also been having guilt about it going unnoticed, and could have said that as an explanation for why *she* forgot.

seriously.

Not that we didn't *deserve* a snark. Not saying that at all. :)

Sorry but when I read this I could only think of the conversation
between you and Storm.

"Daaaad you are suppose to know when I go back to school"

"Storm dear I just forgot"

"Ok Dad but its not my job to remind you either"

Probably didn't happen that way at all, and she was probably having
a great time at mom-moms house.

Still July going back, August is bad enough but July..ick

My niece started school on Wednesday too.

I thought that was odd myself until I remembered about the year-round thing.

I would have forgotten too, if that helps.

downright wrong to send kids to school this early, if they do they might as well just have year round school

I think it's a sign that you're a good dad. parents who are so eager to ship their kids off are the bad ones.

I like your way of looking at it better, but I still didn't tell her teacher "oops, I forgot"!

Third day of school is way to early to get a reputation as "one of *those* parents".
