My sad 50mm f/1.8
Nov. 1st, 2005 02:09 pmIt isn't supposed to come apart like this.

Unfortunately, the coworker who dropped it is being a bit of a jerk about it... wants me to submit it for warranty repair first before he gives me anything towards it. Thanks a fucking lot. Like they are going to believe that a lens broken in two wasn't the result of abuse or accident, which the warranty doesn't cover. Waste of my time and postage.

on 2005-11-02 07:01 am (UTC)You know...if through this whole thing you manage to keep the old lens parts but don't have any use for them or anyone else who wants them and you'd otherwise perhaps toss them...may I have, please? I might not end up making it work or be "useful" again for its original intended purposes, but I LOVE nifty pieces of optical...stuff...ESPECIALLY lenses, prisms, and mirrors. I have an odd collection of stuff like that...photo lenses and a very nice but slightly (and for photoquality-badly) scratched prism. I might even "buy" it from you for a little bit of the cover cost...though it won't be much I'm certain relative to the lens' original worth.
And...EVENTUALLY I'll get a digital camera myself...preferably a mutli-use Sony Handycam with 3MP+ still camera capabilities. By the time my wishes and affordings collide (if/when), they may have one that's just amazing. :-p
