When I left the house this morning, the plan was to do a parts run for [livejournal.com profile] shirokarasu (his car went kaput), and then go to Buffalo Moutain and do some hiking. The sky however was so bleak... the permeating gray of the day overrode any color that tried to assert itself... that I decided nature pics weren't in the cards. Not that they couldn't have been taken, just that they weren't going to be taken by me. I decided I'd do some urban decay shots, or something like that.

While driving around, I came upon this cemetery... I can't remember the name, but I looked at a house for sale right across from it once. Anyway, I ended up spending several hours there. Various statuary, some substantial, dot the grounds, and there is a wide variety of gravemarkers, in age, style and opulence. Despite being a very gray day, the clouds had enough definition to make it interesting. I had to shoot a bit dark to bring out the detail, but I like the effect, it brought out the gloom.

Odd, how days like this feel. I took off my coat and hung it up, and in my minds eye, it hung heavy as though soaked, making a puddle of gloom on the floor. I can feel it in my hair, and in my lungs, like a damp fog. It was a good night to eat veggie stew and edit pics. And chat with talented friends.
