this is another one that reminds me of being a kid. it remines me of being in an unfinished room, heated by a space heater, being drowsy... just a lil bit of what i was thinking. i can smell it. i'm odd, i know.

hard wood floors, drafty entrance ways, cream splashed cinder blocks... a bare bones lil art gallery or the mid-modern version of a country church...

this photo has lots of evocative possibilities. (well, for me)

(and don't be mean to me, hateful ass EBG)

That was actually an exterior shot, taken on one of the porches at the VA.

i can see that, too. i don't know there is just something about this image that keeps bringing up memories for me. it's kinda odd. it's sorta like my first reaction to those ir images that i commented to you about.

(it just made me think of the work studio sections of WK Art Center. Have you been back in those? I remember sitting on those floors with pain splattered all over me and oil pastels under my nails and on my face.)

*paint, what an appropriate typo.

btw were you telling me so I'd shut up? 'cause i wasn't trying to guess where it was, i was just saying what it made me think of. sorry if it annoyed you.

Yes, I was at the William King and got back into some of the work rooms a couple times, once to meet the illustrator Charles Vess, and another time... er... I can't remember why. I know I went up there for their celtic exhibit but I don't recall if that was when the second time was or not.

Here's a few by Charles Vess, for people that aren't familiar:

When did you meet Vess? I'm fairly sure that I met him or at least saw some of his work set up back in the studios. I know CJ met him. CJ was bonkers for his work. He was going to give me some signed illustration, but I refused to take it. He had I believe a book signed as well. Vess has been there more than once, hasn't he?

The reason I say that about the work or having met him myself is that last illustration looks very familiar I've either seen it or one very much like it. CJ did illustrations in much the same style, tried and did quite well.
