"WASHINGTON -- The Pentagon wants to cut the pay of its 148,000 U.S. troops in Iraq, who are already contending with guerrilla-style attacks, homesickness and 120-degree-plus heat."

We actually have some units over in the Gulf too. One of the bigger ships that was there during the war was "outside" of the area that the Pentagon had defined as the "Hazardous Area" so they lost awhole bunch of pay and they didn't get the tax benifits either (if you are in the "war zone" you are exempt from taxes for a spell).

Kinda one of the reasons I am glad I am on the outside looking in now.

It's easier to imagine that being geographically remote might exempt you from the pay upgrade, but there is no doubt the people on the ground are in harms way.

Believe it

George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld care about the troops in the same way that Tyson Foods cares about chickens.
