ebay is dangerous
Feb. 4th, 2007 02:00 pmI've never done anything on ebay except a buy-now transaction, but today decided I would learn how to sell stuff on there. I figured i'd start by selling some of the knives i used to collect. Some should fetch $200+. So I set out to take product pictures. Some of these have been sitting in boxes for quite a while, and this one fiskars field knife had something on the blade. I get out my trusty wire brush and start scrubbing the blade.
For the first time ever in my life, I slipped while handling a knife. I keep all my blades shaving sharp (literally, that's how I test the edge) and as a result cut the living shit out of my index finger.
I've got it pressure wrapped to try and stop the bleeding. I dont need no steenkin doctor. I'm going to superglue it.
/wheeeeeee...

I glued it (kinda gory): http://www.vaughnsphotoart.com/miscimg/ow2.jpg

on 2007-02-04 09:21 pm (UTC)I did that once slicing open a package with a scissor blade. Cut right through my index finger. It wouldn't stop bleeding, so I went to emergency, sat around for two hours, they told me I could have stitches if I "wanted" them -- um, no thanks -- and put a bandaid on it. Didn't even wash off the blood. Luckily I had insurance, because that little trip cost over a thousand dollars. So, good move on avoiding the doctors.
Now, though, where it healed it's numb. I guess the nerves didn't reconnect.
anyway, I guess I can truly say "I feel your pain."

on 2007-02-06 02:24 pm (UTC)Maybe it's just shock or nerve damage. Optimally, it's just your brain doing stupid brain tricks. My brain does stuff like that. My brain is pretty sadistic.

on 2007-02-05 01:12 am (UTC)Dangerous Fiskars Butterfly Knife
Watch Out! You are bidding on a Fiskars butterfly knife with an attitude. This knife is 8 1/4" overall when open with a 3 3/4" hungry blade. The handles are red blood-proof plastic of some sort, with a locking latch at one end. I have never before slipped with a knife in my 38 years on earth, but when I went to polish this knife for the pictures today I did slip and cut the living daylights out of my index finger. I had to super-glue the skin back together so it would quit bleeding. So I can testify personally and with four-part harmony that this knife sports a DANDY edge. I think this would make a good tackle-box knife. Or buy it and throw it in the lake, I don't care, I don't want it anymore. The knife is unpolished in the pictures below, for obvious reasons.
Here's a picture of my finger if you think I'm kidding: http://www.vaughnsphotoart.com/miscimg/ow2.jpg
