Ok, got rid of GAIM as my instant messaging client and switched to Pidgin (http://www.pidgin.im ). Pidgin lets you put all your instant messaging accounts into one client, and then talk to people on any of the services through one program. Right now, I have my AIM, Gtalk, ICQ, Yahoo, and LJChat accounts in it. A nice side benefit of having LJ-Talk running is that Frank the Goat is on your "friends" list, and you can message him to post to LJ. That's how I'm posting this. I rather like it.
I have yet to explore all the features. Got to get a decent user icon and available/away messages set up next.

Yeah, it's sort of GAIM 2.0.1. But I'm not sure how much of the code is the same... they have their libpurple thing now, and I like the UI better on Pidgin. It's more integrated.

Pidgin also supports more protocols than the GAIM version I was using previously. Forgot that part.
