Transparency and polarized light

This is what happens when I get bored at night. No "creative photoshopping" was involved when making these images. Just standard crop/adjust type edits. Care to guess how they were done?

i'm guessing you used a circular polarizer (turned so that it blacked out) in front of an LCD computer monitor.
