"Fun with fusion: Freshman's nuclear fusion reactor has USU physics faculty in awe"

Wallace, a baby-faced tennis player fresh out of Spanish Fork High School, had almost the entire physics faculty of Utah State University hovering (and arguing) over an apparatus he had cobbled together from parts salvaged from junk yards and charity drops.

The apparatus is nothing less than the sine qua non of modern science: a nuclear fusion reactor, based on the plans of Utah's own Philo Farnsworth, the inventor of television.

Did anyone pay attention to the sentence in the last paragraph that said he won SECOND place in the International Science Fair. What the hell did the kid who won first place do?

Joseph said to let him know when you want to come up...he'll *borrow* the parts from undisclosed locations and you guys can see what you come up with.

No, kidding...sorry to disappoint, though he seemed pretty sure the two of you could do it. He was also very disturbed that the neutron detector was so easy to find. Idaho Falls is where they take apart old subs and things like that are supposed to be destroyed utterly.
