Like I said I'm backlogged.

The side alley. Mel's shop has a door that opens into this alley. Two steps down into her showroom from the door. I took the blankets off the couch and barricaded the bottom of the door to keep the water out.

The water has gone down in this pic a good 3 inches from what it had been.

The intersection of Main/N.Roan... the water had already gone down quite a bit by this time.

Downtown is notoriously bad for flooding, and for some reason it seems to me it's even worse over the past few years with lots of structural and merchandise damage. I'm not sure what kind of planning they did way back when, drainage and all considered. But obviously it's not working. The only other places around here that flood are low-lying areas near creeks and rivers.

Part of it might be that back in the day, when downtown was built, there was much less pavement around. Rain would fall onto open ground and sink in. Now, when it rains downtown, it lands on asphalt, rooftops, or concrete, and it has to run to drains or creeks before it can dissipate.

those first 3 pics are in the alley by my back door of my shop. i can't believe that it was bone dry in the showroom after that.
