I'm surprised we didn't lose power, its a heavy snow. Looking at the temps for today, its going to hang around too.

It looks beautiful! I just hope it melts before next Sunday... cause I don't want to move in it. Thanks for sharing these pictures. It's amazing to see how much the amount of snow has varied from place to place.

Where are you moving from/to?

Hampton, VA to Johnson City. I'm mostly worried about driving through Roanoke and Charlottesville. It looks like it's still pretty cold there and may snow again before the week is out. It'll definitely be an interesting experience. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It's not like I can just reschedule so I'm just hoping for the best. I was hoping to get a chance to drive through Asheville but from watching the news it appears that may not be the smartest idea at the moment.

Whoa, I had no idea! Welcome to the neighborhood!

My brother drove down for the holidays from NJ yesterday. I just asked him and he says 81 was in good shape nearly the whole way. Providing the jaunt from Hampton to 81 is in decent shape, you should be good to go.

If you need help carrying stuff, just say the word. I'd love to help!

I appreciate it! I think we've pretty much got it covered. My situation is a little non-traditional. My husband is in the Navy (whoa. i know nuts huh?) and they're sending him out to sea, then to California (technically but he won't actually *be* in CA except maybe 6 months out of the next three years he's stationed there). So I'm moving to JC to finish my degree in Social Work, save as much money as we possibly can, benefit from the gloriousness of mountain beauty, and basically make life after Kody's out of the Navy better. If I budget well we should be able to put down a downpayment on a house somewhere in a few years and put down roots somewhere. Anyway, Kody will be with me and I don't think we have that much stuff to move. I've managed to downsize quite a bit. I'm glad to know that 81 is in good shape. It's hard to tell from just looking at the weather how much snow accumulation is actually staying around. It sure is beautiful and I'm sure I'll be excited about it again as soon as I can stop thinking about driving a moving van in it!

Anyway, thanks for being so neighborly. You guys are good people. Also, if you ever need anything I'll be around and my door is always open.

Well, if you and Kody want an extra set of hands while moving in, give a shout. The offer still stands. Hopefully we can all get together soon.
