Glad I work sitting down
Jun. 27th, 2005 11:39 amMy muscles have that tired ache that comes from spending your energy well. Pleasantly so. Saturday Lorelei and I met up with
shirokarasu,
fjorab_teke, and M at Starbucks, and then drove to Asheville to go hiking. We were actually northeast of Asheville... the hike was to Douglas Falls, off of the blue ridge parkway. The hike was supposedly 6 miles from the info I found, difficulty "strenuous", and estimated at 4 hours. We went at a moderate pace, crossed a number of cascades and streams, and generally had a great day. Due to M having to be back at a certain time, and the hike being longer than listed on the localhikes.com website (8 miles instead of 6), we had to turn around before getting to the falls, but it was still quite worthwhile. I didn't get many pictures, too busy walking. Back in Asheville, we hit Joe's Crab Shack before heading home. Mmmm, shrimp! :)
Sunday I took the kids to my parent's house and went swimming with them. Spent the better part of four hours tossing Lorelei up onto floats, giving Storm motorboat rides, and generally doing everything with at least one kid attached. After being hot most of Saturday, spending time in the cool water felt tremendous, just what the doctor ordered. But it was also very active, and I was worn out Sunday evening.
Unfortunately, OFIM, so I'm back at work today. I'm appreciating that I have a desk job today... rest for the body.
