From an email I just received from Kodak Gallery (formerly Ofoto):

If their prints are equivalent to CVS's, I'm not their target customer. It's a pity... they used to have high standards back in the Ofoto days. I worried this would happen.

Is that when they used to have the photo-mats (sp?). Those little structures where only one or two employees could fit in there and you could just drive up and get your photos. We had one in the parking lot of our local store.

No, the site that is now KodakGallery.com used to be Ofoto.com, and they had very good quality. They still may, but the fact that they suggest you can get the same service from CVS that you get from them kind of puts me off.

yes, Mpix.com. They ship large prints flat, have several paper choices, and quality has been good... I'm quite pleased so far.

they're more expensive than my current supplier.
i use deviantart.com, they're prints have been fantastic, shipping fast, though the large prints are shipped rolled.

I live near Kingsport, TN, home of Eastman (of Eastman Kodak fame). The entire town stinks because of their chemical plant. I could never live in Kingsport.

They do make good products, but the customer service on the site I mentioned has been slipping. I don't do them any favors by keeping quiet about it or lying about it either, so think of it that way. And to equate themselves as being the same product as CVS is a big mistake in my opinion.

ha - you should read my post from last night about kodak gallery:

someone recommended mpix to me, as well.

that story is a bit too familar. I had a 16x20 take... gosh... over a month, last time I ordered one. I now see in their shipping info that if you don't pay for upgraded shipping, they give your order slower treatment. I don't like that.

my only beef with mpix is that they only keep images online so long. you can't keep them on indefinitely like you can with kodakgallery.

good to know - thanks! i think i'll check out mpix for my next prints.

adorama has also been good to me, except for that weird customer service mix-up.
