Saturday's accomplishments

• slept in
• Storm wants to go hiking, so get kids dressed and head to blue hole.
• Hike/play in water/photograph... but the bug spray got left home and the mosquitos are bad so we don't stay but an hour.
• call mom and dad... plan b, go swimming at their house.
• go swimming with kids, hang out in sun, etc.
• Head to Parks Mill with parents... a unique barbeque place south of Abingdon VA. It has a functioning grist mill, an outdoor barbecue kitchen, play area for kids, etc. Very cool atmosphere. And good BBQ too.
• Drive home, flop a bit, diagnose dead router, off to walmart, etc etc., post to LJ, threaten to go to bed. Decide to post another pic first. ;)

Sounds like you had an interesting and busy day.

Let's see-
>unable to sleep until 3 am-
>rose at 6 woke kids got ready for trip to Dollywood with girl scout troop 1050.(packed the night before- for the most part)
>woke the driver- a very delicate task on a GOOD day
> went to troop leader's house- helped her get the rest of HER stuff in the van.
>rode to church to get the rest of the troop.
>pit stop after 1 hour on the road- the kids drank all of their drinks
>act as navigator for the rest of the trip.Navigating Knoxville was a rough experience.(Sieverville and Pigeon Forge obviously had some MAJOR traffic issues- trip took about an hour and a half longer than it should have and we were NOT lost!
>Got to Dollywood
>Restroom
>Took 7 kids through the Spongebob Simulator
>took 3 kids and one adult on Smoky Mountain Rampage(the rest of the troop went in different car on same ride
>took 5(originally 6 but one girl backed out- understandably- it was a scary ride) on Daredevil Falls (including my spunky little 5 year old)*NOTE TO SELF* Do not EVER tell a 5 year old that she CAN'T ride a ride that is over 60 feet in height and goes at 50 mph. She will do her DAMNEDEST to get on that ride!)

I wound up being the ONLY adult to ride almost ALL of the rides we got on.

I skipped one because I HAD to eat- I was getting sick.
> we lost 2 girls I was responsible for when the leader told them(after I had vetoed any separation from the group) that they could go do their own thing.(I was NOT a happy camper- I was pissed because BOTH mothers had told BOTH girls in my hearing to stay with me and MY kids. They wandered off while I was doing something that the other kids wanted to do and we agreed to meet a a specific location.) We went to Security and let them know we had lost them(fortunately it WAS closing for the night and we DID find them quickly. Their punishment? They got no souveniers- as the girls got theirs with the OTHER kids who had stayed with us. Even I got a little something(a gift from Kelly- one of the leaders- for being so brave - or stupid as to ride with the kids) OK- I AM a huge kid at heart- I had so much fun on the rides that I'd do it again and again!

>Negotiate Pigeon Forge Weekend Traffic to gas station.
>Pump gas
>Take Excedrine Migraine for gods-waful headache
>Navigate trip home(we got lost once- for 5 minutes)
>Sit up with Marie until her mom picked her up
FINALLY wind down enough to sleep(ok so I took Tylenol PM- I had muscle aches that would NOT quit)
slept in until about noon
